The right frame will significantly enhance the look of a painting or print. The quality lies in the materials chosen and the frame that is used. So, what do you look for when it's time to frame your artwork?
The matting: These are the coloured cards that are placed around the artwork. Choosing the right colour, thickness, and texture will bring an image to life.
The frame: Don't hesitate to try a lot of different sample corners to see what looks best with your image. Walk around the gallery and see how different frames work with the art.
The glass: We can help you determine if glass if right for your artwork, and which type of glass will work best depending on where you are hanging the pice.
Conservation Framing:
A method that protects your artwork from dust, light, humidity and acid. This process uses 100% acid-free matting, mounting boards, and UV glass or acrylic. Though more costly, it offers the best protection, and improves the longevity of your artwork.
Plak Mounting:
Also known as Laminart, Block Mounting, or Plaque Mounting. Your picture is mounted on MDF and protected with a UV blocking laminate coating. It is a great inexpensive alternative to framing with a frame and glass. Offered in 4 different edge styles from the classic 3/8″ Plak mount to 5/8″ flush mount. More about Plaque Mounting.
